Painter Andrew Wyeth, who captured the the American landscape with a melancholy realism and a bleak, subdued color palette, passed away today at age 91. He happened to be one of my favorite artists. I have a framed print of Christina’s World, probably his most famous piece, hanging above my desk at work.

I have another framed print, titled Master Bedroom, in (of all places) my bedroom.

There’s also a small sample of his work on his official website. There I discovered some of his newer works, dated as recently as 2008. He actively pursued his craft throughout his life, and his contributions will be missed.
